Hello: We have just received word that there will be a contingent of Japanese colleagues able to attend the US/Japan compact torus workshop this November. It should be an exciting meeting. This is the second announcement for the 2006 US-Japan workshop on compact torus plasmas to be held at Swarthmore College (near Philadelphia, USA) immediately after the APS-DPP meeting (also held in Philadelphia, USA). The dates will be Thursday Nov 2 to Saturday Nov 4 (at noon). The theme for the workshop will be "The role of flow in compact torus plasmas". Please see the official website for the meeting: http://plasma.physics.swarthmore.edu/USJapan/index.html Abstract deadline will be Friday Oct 13. I will send more details shortly but the abstracts will be a one page pdf. I will compile a booklet of abstracts. I will try to make room for mostly oral presentations. There will be a poster session Friday morning Nov 3 in the Swarthmore College Science Commons. Registration will be on site and will cover the cost of the banquet (about $100 but still being planned). Housing will be at your APS-DPP hotel (Philadelphia Marriott) which is close to a regional rail line to Swarthmore College: http://www.septa.org/service/rr_schedules.html cheers, mb Contact information: Japan: Tsutomu Takahashi, Nihon University, e-mail: tom@pyxis.phys.cst.nihon-u.ac.jp US: Mike Brown, Swarthmore College, e-mail: doc@swarthmore.edu
